What this is

Registry Explorer collects the public physician registers published by Canada’s provincial and territorial medical regulatory colleges and presents them together in one place. It is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any college.

This is not a copy of the registers

Each college publishes in its own format and its own vocabulary. To make eleven registers searchable as one, the data is processed before it reaches you:

• Cleaned. Values that are inconsistent, malformed, or incomplete are corrected where we judge it appropriate.
• Standardized.Eleven vocabularies for status, registration class, specialty and language become one. The college’s own wording is kept alongside ours wherever it is published.
• Supplemented.Some values here were published by no college. Gender, where a college does not publish it, is inferred from the registrant’s full name by a language model and is labelled as inferred. Practice addresses are geocoded to place a point on a map. Other fields are derived from what a college does publish, such as registration standing at colleges that publish only a registration period.

Those are our judgements, and they can be wrong in ways the college’s own register is not.

Educational and informational use only

This site exists for education and general information. It is not for official use of any kind, including hiring, credentialing, privileging, referral, insurance, legal, regulatory, or clinical decisions.

What you see reflects what a college published at the time it was collected, processed as described above. It can be out of date, incomplete, or wrong, and a registrant’s standing can change the day after we read it.

Verify anything that matters directly with the college. Where a college publishes a profile page for a registrant, that page’s link sits on the registrant’s page here. Three colleges publish no stable public page, and those link to the college’s register instead.

The college is the authoritative source, and responsibility for the accuracy of a register rests with the college that publishes it. Where this site and a college disagree, the college is right. We accept no responsibility for inaccuracies, whether they originated with a college or with our own cleaning and supplementing.

Where a college does not publish something, this site says so rather than leaving a blank. A missing discipline section means the college publishes no discipline data, not that a registrant has a clean record.

Access

Accounts are granted individually and are personal to you. Do not share your sign-in link or let someone else use your account. We can suspend or remove access at any time, and access may end without notice.

Use is subject to daily limits on how many records, search results and assistant questions each account may consume, with lower limits for visitors without one. Those limits exist to keep this a research tool. Your current allowance is visible in the account menu.

What you may not do

• Systematically extract, copy, or reproduce the dataset, in whole or in substantial part, by any means including automated ones.
• Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, the access controls or the usage limits, including by holding more than one account.
• Use the information to contact registrants for marketing, or for any purpose prohibited by the publishing college’s own terms.
• Use the information to harass, intimidate, or endanger any person.
• Present the information as authoritative, or imply that a college endorses this site or your use of it.

Ownership of the underlying data

The register data belongs to the publishing colleges and remains subject to their terms. Each college sets its own rules on reuse and republication. Nothing here grants you a licence to the underlying data, and your obligations to a college are unaffected by these terms.

Corrections

If a record about you is wrong as the college publishes it, the correction has to happen at the college. Once they update their register, the change appears here at the next refresh.

If the error is ours, meaning a value we standardized, derived, or inferred rather than one the college published, write to us and we will look at it.

No warranty, and limits on liability

This site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from its use or from reliance on anything it shows.
